FAQs
General
Q: What
do I have to do?
A: Once registered, you participate
in monthly tracking sessions which allow us to monitor product
and technology sector developments.
Q: What do
I get from participating?
A: As well as exclusive access to
final study report findings, all in-depth study participants go
forward to our regular IT Devices prize draws where they can win
the latest tech gadgets.
Q: How often
will I receive information?
A: You will receive information on
any studies you have contributed to upon their completion.
Q: Do I have
to do anything else?
A: No. You only have to take part
in monthly tracking sessions which allow us to update our information
database.
Q: I lost
my password...
A: Please contact
Lucas Morin at our panel management department.
Technical requirements
Q: Do I
have to activate JavaScript to take part in the studies?
A: Yes, this is due to data consistency
checks carried out during the interview session.
Q: Do I have
to accept cookies to take part in the studies?
A: Yes, your browser has to accept
first-party-cookies. Our cookie is a temporary one and disappears
once the session is closed.
Q: All I
see is a message that I need to enable cookies. How do I do this?
A1: For Microsoft Internet Explorer:
Regarding version 7, click Helps&Settings, click Show All
Settings, click
Web Browsing,
from here on it works like previous version:
Click Tools, then Internet Options.
Click the Security tab.
Click Custom Level.
Scroll down about halfway in the window that displays your security
preferences. You should see two entries regarding cookies: Allow
cookies and
Allow per-session cookies. Make sure both entries are set to "Enable".
Click OK.
A2: For Netscape Navigator 4.x:
Click Edit Preferences.
Click Advanced.
Click Accept All Cookies.
Click OK.
A3: For Netscape 6.x and Mozilla
Click Edit Preferences.
Click Privacy & Security
Click Cookies.
Click Enable cookies.
A4: For Opera 6.x
Click File, Click preferences or use key F12.
Choose Enable cookies.
Q: Do I
have to accept popup windows?
A: Unfortunately, yes. Newer browsers
like Opera 6.01 have preference options which allow pop-up windows
to be disabled due to their unpopularity. To take part in the
survey you have to accept popup windows. You may correct this
in File/Preferences/Browser look/Browser windows/Pop-up windows
(for Opera 6.01).
Q: What
browser do I need?
A: Most widely available browsers
have sufficient capabilities: with the exception of text browsers
like lynx. Browsers must also be HTML 4.0 and Javascript compatible.
Scripting is along MS Internet Explorer lines due to its widespread
use (this is a pragmatic decision although not totally satisfactory).
Q: I cannot
log-in and get the message "Server connection refused"
A: Please wait a short time before
attempting to log-in again.
Q: I have
done this and am still unable to log-in
A: Please contact
Lucas Morin at our panel management and send - if possible
- the error message and time that the error occurred.
Q: What
screen resolution do I need?
A: You will need a minimal resolution
of 800x600 pixels.
Making Changes
Q: How can
I change my data?
A: You can amend your personal and
tracking data after an initial blocking period following log-in.
A verify/change data link will be available at the MetriNets website
shortly after completion of the initial tracking phase.
Q: I am no
longer interested in taking part in the monthly tracking studies
but would like to participate in in-depth studies
A: Please send your details to
Lucas Morin at our panel management department.
